SEIP is a tough-tackling defender and superb reader of the game, who can operate at right-back but prefers to play his football in the centre of defence.
Marcel began his career with BV Veendam in his native Netherlands before moving to Heerenveen in the top tier of Dutch football.
He became a first-team regular with Heerenveen competing against the likes of Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenord, and also earned one Under-21 cap for Holland.
Seip also played in the UEFA Cup while at Heerenveen, and came on as a substitute against Newcastle United at St James Park in February 2005.
After an unsuccessful trial with Russian club Dinamo Moscow, Seip found himself in the South West of England.
He impressed Ian Holloway while on trial with the Pilgrims, and was granted a short-term contract in August 2006. This was soon extended and the Dutchman is now widely regarded as one of the most important members of the Argyle squad.
