DOUMBE must be a contender for the fastest defender in the Coca-Cola Championship. The Frenchman is extremely strong, committed and has the pace to recover in most situations.
MKD began his career as a central-midfielder with French giants Paris Saint Germain, playing alongside the likes of Nigerian international Jay-Jay Okocha and French star Nicolas Anelka.
He joined Hibernian in October 2001 and converted into a defender. He spent three years with the Edinburgh club before following manager Bobby Williamson down to Argyle.
After a solid first season with Pilgrims, Doumbe came to the fore during the Tony Pulis era with a string of excellent displays, despite having numerous partners in the centre of defence.
MKD found himself playing alongside Taribo West, Paul Wotton, Elliott Ward and Hasney Aljofree at different times during the campaign and yet his performances never dipped as he began to emerge as one of the best defenders in the division.
His pace, power and man-marking abilities made him, once again, vital to the Argyle cause last season and the same is expected this season.
