PLYMOUTH Argyle's Education and Development squad have enjoyed the first day of the next chapter in their lives.

The squad arrived at Home Park for a tour of the surroundings from coaches Mark Lovell and Mark Rivers and a talk from the head of youth development, Gordon Bennett.

In partnership with John Kitto Community College, the young players play their first game as Pilgrims in a friendly at Truro City next week.

The exciting new scheme ties in education and football to allow pupils the ability to gain nationally recognised qualifications, whilst nurturing their football talent in a professional football club.

The scheme is aimed at young people who may not have been taken on in professional football youth training schemes and would like to stay in the game.

It allows young people the opportunity to develop their vocational skills that can be applied to the sports field whilst also developing their football skills.

The incentive for the youngsters could not be greater, with Gordon Bennett promising to keep a watchful eye on the progress made by the new recruits.

You never know - the next Argyle hero could already be here.
